The truth always comes out — so tell it from the beginning.

This blog is about design and development. A blog about subjects I’ve spent my life earning bread & butter. Hopefully, as time passes, I’ll be able to write on useful subjects relating to New Media.

This blog won’t have lists of the coolest wallpapers ever, as there are already quite a few out there. And rest assured, I won’t even talk about how I almost had a death experience once or what I did yesterday.

So, I am Rizwan Reza. A Ruby enthusiast creating web applications using Rails. I’ve also been playing with Sinatra lately and it really is the power of Ruby exposed. I came to Ruby through my bad experiences with PHP. I was a convert thanks to the famous 15 minutes screencast. Back then in 2005, it was history being made as people either rushed towards Ruby or criticized it as hard as they could.

I’m really amazed at how the Rails community, having seen its ups and downs, has still managed to be one of the most fast-paced and trend-changing community. It has inspired many other groups of developers. Not only Ruby on Rails inspired programmers to create boilerplate frameworks of their own in their language, but Ruby, the language itself, has managed to keep communities tightly buckled.

My introduction to PHP in 2003 was due to a form mailer script that I was striving hard to implement. I was a full-time designer back then, print and web. Even today I haven’t stopped looking myself as a designer after being involved in development since so long.

Design is a world of its own. It’s all around us. The creation of every thing you see is not due to a million iterations of some random dance, but is backed by a carefully crafted hand. I believe Design is creativity at its best in that it combines both the creation of something from nothing while solving a problem for the humanity.

My expertise and passion in design is how it can be used by others to accomplish the task at hand in the simplest way, while at the same time leaving you refreshed and surprised in a nice way. I’m influenced by User Experience and Interaction in Design.

With that, I end my introductory post and thank you for reading this. I will be posting about various topics on development and design. Occasionally, you’ll see rants and reviews as well.
